  • Boiled & mashed potato 1 cup
  • Oil as required
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Onion chopped 1
  • Salt as taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp
  • Bread slices 6
  • Gram flour 3 tbsp
  • Curry leaves chopped 3 no's
  • Oil for deep frying

Bread Bonda

There is a common variety of Bonda we all might have had. Here is the recipe of a bread Bonda. Its a delicious snack for kids tiffin & a snack in the evening to go well with our tea/coffee. Hope you all will like it :-)

  • Take a wok. Add oil.
  • Add cumin seeds & onion. Saute them well.
  • Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilly powder & coriander powder. Mix all well.
  • Add boiled & mashed potato. Give a good stir.
  • Add garam masala powder & coriander leaves.
  • Potato mixture is ready & keep aside.
  1. Take a bread slice.Cut the sides. Make a small ball out of the potato mixture & keep it in centre of the bread. Very gently close the bread covers the potato ball from all the sides.
  2. Take a small bowl. Add gram flour, salt & red chilli powder. Pour water in such a way to make a thin batter.
  3. Add the bread ball in it( one at a time) & with the help of a spoon, coat the batter all sides. Slide it into a hot oil.Fry it until golden brown.
  4. Garnish it with chopped curry leaves & serve it with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
