I have seen my mother in law making her signature Meat Masala powder at home (will share the recipe soon) and since then, I too have been making many Masala powder’s at home. One such is this simple and every day required Garam Masala. The ingredients are simple and the satisfaction we get when we use our home made masala is very extra-ordinary.
Of late, I have seen the dry spice mix available in the stores. Just buy it, roast it and powder it… Our life is simple and yet we know what is there in our masala. I use this store bought dry spice mix sometimes. The taste is good as well.
– Slightly roast one spice at a time on low flame till warm, except the dry ginger powder.
– Remove to plate and cool them to room temperature.
– Add the spices to a mixer along with the Dry Ginger Powder and grind to a powder as fine as possible.
– Store in a air-tight jar.
