Tamatar Ki Khatti Meethi Chutney
2-3 Servings
  • Tomato-3 chopped
  • Oil-2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds-1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds-1/2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves-1 string
  • Ginger-1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Garlic-1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Green chilly-2 finely chopped
  • Jaggery-1/2 tsp
  • Sugar-1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder-1/2 tsp
  • Tamarind-lemon size soaked in 1 cup of water
  • Coriander powder-1 tbsp
  • Chilly powder-1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • Asafetida-a pinch
  • Salt-as per taste

Tamatar Ki Khatti Meethi Chutney


1) Keep a wok on flame.Add oil.
2) Splutter mustard seeds & cumin seeds.
3) Add hing powder,ginger,garlic,green chilly & curry leaves.Mix well till it leaves wonderful aroma.
4) Add onion, salt,turmeric powder. Mix till onion becomes translucent.
5) Add coriander powder & red chilly powder.Mix well till chilly powder get roasted.
6) Add tomatoes & mix well.Close the lid & leave it for 5 minutes in low flame.
7) Pour tamarind water when tomatoes are soften.Give a good stir.
8) Add sugar,jaggery & pepper powder.Mix well & close the lid for 10 minutes in low flame.
9) Give a stir & switch off the flame.
10) Serve it hot with Idli,dosas or parantas.
