kerala Fish Cury

2-3 Servings ~ 20-25 minutes
  • 300 Grams Fish
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut oil
  • A small bowl full of Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 6-9 Shallots/ Small onions
  • 2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp Garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 3 tsp Red Chilly powder
  • 2 Pieces of Kudampuli(Garcinia Cambogia) - soaked in salt water
  • 1 cup Water

Kerala Fish Curry

Fish is liked by most of the keralites. Here is a fish curry which is directly from God’s own country.The traditional spices from Kerala makes this fish curry just mouth watering.*Method:

-Marinate fish with salt.
-L
ayer a few springs of curry leaves at the bottom of the fish vessel.
-Layer the raw fish on top of that.
-Heat oil in a pan,add the mustard seeds.
-When they splutter,add the fenugreek seeds.
-When it starts to change the color,add the onions,ginger,garlic & curry leaves.
-cook on medium heat till the onions turn brown.
-Then add the chilly powder,turmeric powder & stir it.
-Add water & the kudampuli along with the salt water.
-Add enough water to make a watery gravy.Bring to boil.
-Pour this into the fish that has been arranged in the fish vessel.
-Cook covered on low medium heat till the fish is cooked(15-20 minutes).
-Every 5-8 minutes grab the vessel with cloth & give a light swirl.
-Cook till the fish is cooked & the gravy is lightly thick.Taste for salt.Just before serving,add some coconut oil on the top & fresh curry leaves to garnish.
